The WriteMACRO™ mobile application is the first ever writing suite (database) developed to analyze micrographia and to help encourage those living with micrographia to write again! It is our goal to get as many people with Parkinsons disease to use this writing application to create a tool to help analyze characteristics of micrographia. The fun writing prompts give users the ability to write creatively.

The application includes a series of fun writing prompts, a special To-Do list and a Notebook.

Features of the Application:

• Writing Prompts: Let’s Write! When you first log in to the application you will have 5 fun questions to answer. You will not be able to type your answers, rather, you have to write them out using a stylus or your finger. This will be your first handwriting assessment that you will submit.
• To-Do List: Stay on track with your daily tasks with our To-Do List
• Notebook: Get creative and write, doodle, draw or jot notes. Save your notebook entries for later access.
• On-going Writing Assessment: Periodically, the application will send you reminders to complete a new writing assessment. This will be used for the on-going assessment of your writing.

Our end goal is to aid physicians with early identification of micrographia to aid in diagnosing Parkinsons disease.

What is Micrographia?

Micrographia is a common symptom of Parkinsons disease as well as other neurological disorders such as MS, Huntingtons, and those living with Stroke. Micrographia is small handwriting commonly found in Parkinsons disease. Micrographia occurs from stiffness and rigidity of muscles. Micrographia varies from person to person and is seen in those living with Parkinson’s disease and other types of “parkinsonism.” Micrographia is a common symptom of Parkinson’s disease and is referred to as a prodromal symptom because it is a symptom that indicates the start of a disease.

Users:

Any one living with or without Parkinsons disease may download the application and complete the writing prompts. As we are creating a database of writing samples, the best way to do this is by evaluating handwriting samples in those people with and without micrographia. So, download the application and submit your writing to us today!
